Register online for 30th anniversary event set for Sunday October 16 in Wellsville
By Andrew Harris
Three decades have passed since Rich and Gwen Shear had the crazy idea to hold cross country foot race on their farm. Situated at the confluence of Wellsville, Willing, and Alma; the Shear farm has acted as the headquarters for a race through the forest and uplands of southern Allegany County. The natural beauty, challenging course, gracious landowners, and dedicated event organizers have created an iconic tradition.
After the ravages of Covid-19, the Ridgewalk crew are thrilled to announce that online registration is now open!!

Fans of the event like our friend and regular columnist Bob Confer celebrated the announcement that the Ridgewalk is back and included this picture of another well known WNY writer, Bob Lonsberry:
“Hikers and runners tackle Allegany County’s high country for AWESOME fall scenery. Experienced folk can take on rugged Stony Lonesome Hollow while others take easier routes to Alma Hill (2548′).”
