Deborah E. “Deb” (Farwell) Kurschner, 55, passed away on Tuesday (June 28, 2022) at Highland Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Wellsville.

Deborah was born on July 17, 1966 in Wellsville to Fredrick F. and Jean M. (Brownell) Farwell. She was a 1984 graduate of Scio Central School. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Alfred University.

Deb worked for Allegany ARC in Wellsville for many years in child care before working for Accord Corp. in Belmont, also working in child care.

Deb is survived by a sister, Patricia (Stephen) Trask of Jamestown; two brothers, Henry “Pete” (Cathy) Farwell and Mark Farwell, both of Scio; a niece, Ashley Hoffman; four nephews, Jon Farwell, Ian Trask, James Farwell and William Farwell; and her English Bulldog, Lola.

Deb had many loves. She loved her siblings and all the usual banter that goes with it such as her horrible driver habits and her lack of a sense of direction. They still laugh at how many times she could get lost driving home from an evening with her family. She loved and doted on her niece, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; showering them with her acts of kindness. Deb had a great gift of hospitality, which combined with her love of cooking and baking, expressed itself through many invites to the neighborhood for a meal or dessert.

Deb was known as someone who loved having a good time. She enjoyed listening to Rock and Roll music with Guns and Roses and Pink as some of her favorite artists. She like shooting pool and for years was an avid BINGO enthusiast, hitting the various locations several nights per week. Deb was also a huge Buffalo Sabres fan.

There will be a time of visitation on Thursday (June 30) from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 12-1 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Glen Layfield of the Restoration Church of Christ in Scio, officiating. Her ashes will be laid to rest at Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Deb’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org). © 2022 Baker-Swan Funeral Home.
