WELLSVILLE — For years, Ed Flurschutz made sure veterans were honored in Wellsville. His planning led to great Memorial Day celebrations as well as Veteran’s Day ceremonies.

As a volunteer firefighter, he was the backbone of the department for many years and helped guide the department with fiscal responsibility while adding members and equipment.

On Monday, it was time for Wellsville to honor Ed.

Flutschutz was the Grand Marshal of the Wellsville Memorial Day Parade. The World War II and Korean War veteran walked around, posed for photos and received several ovations.

During the Memorial Day service, Kris Green of the Air Force served as Master of Ceremonies.

Shane Scott, an Army veteran, gave an emotional speech about two of his friends he served with in the Army who were killed in action.

Wellsville Mayor Randy Shayler and Wellsville Town Supervisor Shad Alsworth also spoke and presented a wreath.

Thank you to Wellsville American Legion Post 702 member and Auxiliary Secretary Vicki Scott for these amazing photos:
