Wirt Edward Washburn, formerly of Wellsville

Wirt Edward Washburn, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2022, after a long and eventful 96 years on this earth. 

He was born and raised in Wellsville, New York.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, serving  during World War II in the South Pacific returning home in 1946.  He lived in New York, New Mexico, California and moved to Florida in 1990. 

He was preceded in death by six siblings, grandson Kevin Washburn, Doris Eldridge Washburn, and Marie Bard Washburn.

He is survived by his siblings, Jerry L. Washburn (brother) of California; and Donna Washburn Munro (sister) of Wellsville, New York; as well as his children, daughter Linda Washburn Vail (husband, Burr), Vermont; son, Larry Washburn, California; son, Wirt (Ed) Washburn Jr (wife Sally), Jacksonville, and son, Scott Eric Washburn (wife, Kelly), North Charleston, SC.  He was also the proud grandfather to Adrienne Vail, Wade Washburn; Claire Washburn, Angela Washburn Martineau (husband, Andy); Candace Washburn Poisson (husband, Roger); Shaun Washburn; Kim Washburn Naum and Erica Washburn.  There are great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the World War II Museum in Eldred, PA., North Bingham Community Church, or the American Heart Association.

A celebration of life will be held on June 11, 2022 11:00 a.m. at the North Bingham Community Church, 2231 Bingham Center Road, North Bingham, PA 16941.
