Elected officials will be gathering today at the county seat for two key legislative meetings. The first meeting of the Ways and Means will include a detailed look at the counties expenditures over a two week period. Allegany County spends just a little under three million dollars every two weeks, you can read line items listed in the agenda below.

Planning Director Kier Dirlam will ask the committee to approve a request to apply for a Hazard Mitigation grant. The grant is to fund the majority of the 5 year Hazard Mitigation Plan which will include every county municipality. “This plan will be a multijurisdictional plan that includes all Towns and Villages within the County, and will help to document, assess, and provide solutions for future risks related to natural hazards.”

The full board of legislators will meet at 2pm today to discuss and approve twenty different resolutions. Many of those resolutions deal with re-appropriating American Rescue Plan funds that have not been spent. The board will also create a new capital account for the upcoming replacement of the “Belfast Bridge,” and vote to approve several requests to seek grant funding.

Board members will also be reviewing updates from the Allegany County Industrial Development Agency(ACIDA.) Those updates include more information on the application by Arvos Ljungstrom and a proposed solar facility, OYA Chenunda Creek, LLC.

Chairman of the Board Phil Stockin will be announcing two regional board appointments and two proclamations, one of which will designate April as “Fair Housing Month.”
