Hotdog Day Returning to Alfred

Alfred Hotdog Day has been celebrated since 1972, except for cancelations during COVID.  It returns this year on April 30th with the parade starting at noon on Main Street and the festival with vendors and games from 1 pm to 5 pm.  The festival portion will be held along Allen Way and nearby areas of the Alfred University Campus.

Historically both Alfred University and Alfred State College have participated in the organization of the event, but this year Alfred State College’s administration declined. The first Hotdog Day was organized by A.U. students Mark O’Meara and Eric Vaugn in 1972. The event is focused on the popular and inexpensive hotdog.  This totally student-run event raises money for local charities and community-based civic organizations.  Hotdog Day has come to mark the beginning of spring in Alfred.

A concert will be held behind Alfred University’s Carnegie Hall with Fritz and the Tantrums headlining.  The doors open at 6:00 pm.  Fritz and the Tantrums are an American Indie Pop and new soul band from Los Angeles, California, that formed in 2008.

Organizers are looking for vendors.  An application to vend at the event can be found at https://auconnect.alfred.edu/submitter/form/step/1…  For further questions about the event, you can contact David via email at dmj2@alfred.edu.
