Fire departments from three Allegany County towns responded to a structure fire Wednesday night at the Colonial Motel and Air Bed and Breakfast on State Route 19A in Genesee Falls (Wyoming County).
The alarm sounded around 7:30 p.m. Allegany County crews from Centerville, Fillmore. Allegany County FAST Team 1 and Wiscoy-Rossburg joined Wyoming County units from Pike. Bliss, Castile, Gainesville, Perry, Silver Springs as well as Nunda at the scene. Allegany County units called to stand-by included Centerville, Houghton and Rushford.
Pike Fire Chief Rich Vanderploeg said crews were at the scene for five hours. The blaze started on the outside of the building and extended up into the attic area. The estimated loss was set at $125,000. The cause is under investigation.
