Town of Alma Hiring Equipment Operator, Selling Used Dump Truck By Bid

The Town of Alma is looking to fill a Heavy Motor Equipment operator position.

Distinguishing features of the class: The work involves responsibilities for the operation and maintenance of specialized heavy motor equipment in addition to more routine manual work requiring physical endurance and willingness to perform heavy work. Incumbent is expected to be a skilled operator of at least one of several specified pieces of heavy equipment. Typical work activities: operates specialized heavy equipment to include excavator, backhoe, roller, 10 wheel dump trucks, boom mower tractor, motor grader, loader, ten wheeler with flows and sander.

Performs cleaning and maintenance on above equipment, such as servicing, greasing, and mechanical repairs. Does related task in buildings, repairing roadways, flood damage control, snow removal, pipe replacement. Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities, and person characteristics: Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, ability to make repairs, ability to follow oral and written instructions, willingness to work outdoors in any weather, willingness to perform manual labor.

Minimum qualifications: at least two years CDL driving experience, Class (B) drivers license, at least two years of operating heavy motor equipment. Must pass the pre- employment drug test and physical. The Town of Alma will be accepting sealed bids, for the sale of #1 – 1996 Ford L 9000 Dump Truck. Sealed bids must be turned in no later than 4:00pm on June 17th, 2021. At this time the Town of Alma will open and read aloud all bids received. The Town of Alma has the right to reject any and all bids that the town feels unacceptable. You can inspect the equipment and drop off bids at the Town Highway Barn, 5716 Hogbrook Rd, Wellsville, NY 14895. They can also be mailed to the town clerk @ PO Box 67, Allentown, NY 14707.
