Lester I. “Lucky” Mead, 83, Little Genesee and Formerly Wellsville

Lester I. “Lucky” MEAD, 83, of Little Genesee, NY, formerly of Wellsville, died Monday, May 24, 2021 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.  

Born July 4, 1937, in Wellsville, he was the son of Raymond C. and Alice L. Johnson Mead.  A 1957 graduate of Wellsville High School, he served honorably with the US Army.  He was employed by Rochester Button Company and then Kwik Fill for many years.  Lucky was a member of Frank B. Church VFW Post #2530 in Wellsville.  

Surviving are:  his companion of 16 years, Mary Ann Kenney of Little Genesee;  a daughter, Dawn Perry of Wellsville;  four grandsons, Tony Edwards, Gary Edwards, Troy Edwards, and Scott Edwards;  two granddaughters, Emily Mead and Rosalee Mead;  one great-granddaughter, Kaydence Edwards;  a sister, Esther Kayes of Olean;  several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Kevin J. Mead, on December 8, 2019;  three brothers, Raymond Mead, Richard Mead, and Robert Mead;  and a sister, Wilola Jones.  

 Memorials may be made to Allegany County Cancer Services, Attn: Lori Ballengee, 100 South Highland Ave., Wellsville, NY 14895.  

A memorial gathering will be held at the Wellsville VFW on Thursday, June 3, 2021 beginning at 3:00 PM.
