Ward Francis Johnson, 72, Burns NY

      BURNS – Ward Francis Johnson, 72, passed away Thursday (May 20, 2021) at home following a lengthy illness.

      Mr. Johnson was born on May 19, 1949 in Syracuse to Francis Ward and Bessie Jane (Joslyn) Johnson. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969-73. Ward served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. While in the service, he earned his high school diploma and graduated from Fillmore Central School in 1971. On July 19, 2008 he married Robin Ann Kish, who survives.

      Ward was a truck driver for Bugman and Sons Trucking in Dalton for many years.

      In addition to his wife, Ward is survived by two sons, Kevin Johnson of Amherst and Jamie Johnson of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Daniel W. Johnson, Sr. of Hume; two sisters, Darlene (Doug) McDay of Henrietta and Evelyn Crane of N.C.; four step sons, Joe Speta, Chris Speta, Andy Speta and David Speta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

      He was predeceased by a brother, James Johnson and a nephew, Francis Ward Johnson.

      Ward loved to hunt and fish. He liked working with wood and used those skills to become a good carpenter installing floors and other carpentry projects. He was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed watching Western movies in his down time.

      Ward was a lifetime member of the Warsaw VFW and a long-time member of the Canaseraga American Legion.

      Per his wishes, there will be no prior visitation. Full military honors will be held on Thursday (May 27) at 11:00 a.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. The Patriot Guard will escort the funeral procession to White Cemetery in Rushford where burial will take place.
