Michael T. Baldwin provides a preview of the week ahead in local government.

The Village of Wellsville could vote to spend $320,000 for new equipment when the Board meets at 6 p.m. Monday. Trustee’s will consider purchasing a dump truck totally equipped with a plow, winder, spreader, brine tank and distribution computer using reimbursed CHIPS money not to exceed $120,000.

They will also consider purchasing a Hybrid Truck with a 40’ boom not to exceed $200,000. Trustee’s will also vote to request acceptance and approval of the Police Reform Plan.

The Allegany County Legislature meets Monday afternoon and legislators will vote on a resolution calling on the governor and the state legislature to end the state diversion of local sales tax. These diversions are approaching nearly $500 million annually in local sales tax.

A similar resolution also urges the state to reduce across-the-board funding cuts to localities and find alternatives rather than cuts to counties to close out state budget gaps.

Lawmakers will also vote to support the Great Lakes Cheese Company proposed manufacturing facility in Amity and Angelica. The project is expected to create 200 new jobs for an increased payroll of about $9 million a year. The meeting is at 2 p.m.
