Come one, come all, to David A. Howe Library’s Third Annual Renaissance Faire on Saturday, September 19.

Festivities will commence on the library lawn at 5 p.m. and conclude around 7 p.m. just after the costume contest prizes are announced. The first two years were incredible and the library is ready to welcome the community back to continue this new tradition.
The event will include a variety of fun activities for all ages, starting with Ye Olde Story Corner, with Ashleigh Beblavy at 5 (and again at 5:30 with Nic Gunning). Kate Elliott will lead a Renaissance Riddle Contest at 5:30; attendees can compete individually or in teams. Then, at 6, Kate Martelle, owner of Martelle Dance Academy, will teach interested fairgoers a Renaissance-inspired dance. And, of course, all attendees are welcome to participate in our previously-mentioned costume contest, with judging to begin at 6:45 p.m.
For those who prefer to follow their whims, there will be plenty of unscheduled activities to enjoy. A magician will visit to entertain with juggling and sleight of hand and a tarot reader will provide more spirited fun. Local vendors will be on site for those in the mood to shop.
A local group of musicians will perform Renaissance-inspired tunes. A blacksmith will demonstrate his work. Crafts and lawn games – like giant chess – will be available for all. And the library is still working on some other surprises to round out the evening.
If the weather is nasty, the Faire will be moved into the library. The library’s Facebook page is the best place to find out about any schedule changes.
