The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Wellness Team and the Department of Social Services Wellness Team are excited to share more details about our upcoming First Responder and Helping Professions Family Day, taking place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Wellsville Elks Lodge, 77 E. Pearl Street, Wellsville, NY.

We are thrilled to welcome DJ Charlie Echo, who will provide music and entertainment throughout the day, and Stearns Chicken BBQ, who will be serving dinner for attendees.

This event is completely free for first responders, veterans, Helping Fields professionals, DSS employees, healthcare workers, human service professionals, teachers, and other helping professionals. It is our way of saying thank you to those who dedicate their lives to serving, supporting, and caring for others.

Those who work in the helping professions understand that while the work is incredibly rewarding, it can also come with significant personal and family challenges. We do not choose these careers for recognition or financial reward. We do this work because we care deeply about people and are committed to making a positive difference in our communities.

Family Day was created to recognize not only those who serve but also the families who support them. Strong family connections and support systems are essential to resilience, wellness, and long-term success. This event provides an opportunity to relax, reconnect, and spend quality time together while building relationships with others who understand the unique demands of public service.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of free activities, including live music, a bounce house, cornhole tournament, face painting, giveaways, a kayak raffle, a 50/50 drawing, and wellness vendors offering valuable resources and information. All activities and food are provided at no cost to eligible attendees.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support and partnership of the Wellsville Elks Lodge, whose generous grant funding has helped cover much of the cost of this event and make the day possible. Their commitment to supporting the wellness of those who serve our communities is truly appreciated.
