Carolyn A. Amidon, 84, of Van Campen Rd. passed away peacefully Sunday May 24, 2026 at the Hart Home in Wellsville after an extended Illness.

Carolyn was born January 2, 1942 in Hornell to the late Paul and Ellen (Potter) Lewis. In October of 1960 in Jasper, NY, she married Raymond E. Amidon who predeceased her February 1, 2025.

She was a life-long resident of the Hornell area where she had worked for 40 years at the former Philips Lighting Co. in Bath.

She is survived by two sons, Ray (Jeni) Amidon of Arkport and Jeffrey (Jody) Amidon of Greenwood.

Her wonderful grandchildren Eric Amidon, Sandra Amidon, Joseph Cook, Kristen (Matthew) Smith, Katy (Collin) Morgan and Matthew Amidon, great grandchildren, Harper and Kayla and one on the way. She is also survived by a sister Kay Murray of Alpine, NY.

In addition to her husband Carolyn was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth, Keith, Glen and Jim Lewis, nieces Michelle Allington and Danae Lewis.

The family will receive friends Friday May 29, 2026 from Noon- 2:00pm at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where a funeral will take place immediately following calling hours at 2:00 pm. Burial and committal prayers will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Troupsburg, NY.

Memorial contributions in Carolyn’s name may be made to Comfort House of Allegany County, (Hart House), 141 East State St. Wellsville, Ny 14895.
