Senior Brennen Geffers threw a five inning two-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks as Wellsville downed Avoca-Prattsburgh, 14-0.
At the plate for Wellsville (10-6), senior Trenton Green was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI’s, a run and stolen base and freshman Hudson Hoffman was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI’s and scored two runs. Sophomore Ashton Sawyer had a RBI single and scored.
Geffers, and seniors Matt Ritter and Andrew Ordiway had RBI’s and a run while Ty Rahr had 2 RBI’s and arun, Drew Cowburn, Cam Mattison and Ben Helveston had RBI’s. Paul Giovanniello also scored.

Wellsville plays in the Joe LaPietra Strike Out ALS Classic on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Class A SOTA at Gates-Chili High School then the final regular season game on Monday at Bath.
The Wellsville JV team improved to 6-2-1 with a close 11-8 over the Avoca-Prattsburgh JV’s. Claytin Loucks had the win, striking out nine in three innings and Zane Bowser earned the save with a perfect final innings with three strikeouts.
At the plate for the JV team, Kniffen Cook had two hits, a RBi and scored two runs while Mason Cook (2 RBI’s), Casyn Shay (RBI), Noah Salmonson and Chris Thompson (2 RBI’s, two runs) had hits and Dean Rhodes stole three bases. Brayden Geffers and Loucks also stole bases.
The JV team is at Bolivar-Richburg/Cuba-Rushford for a doubleheader tonight and at Olean Monday.
