CANISTEO/ADRIAN: Martin W. “Marty” Bruce, 71, of Cty. Rte. 119 passed away peacefully Saturday May 9, 2026 at his home surrounded by the love and care of his family after a very long illness.
Marty was born February 15, 1955 in Hornell to the late William A. and Doris M. (Butler) Bruce. On May 30, 2018 he married the former Renee Nolton who survives and resides in Adrian.
Marty was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley where he was employed as a mechanic in the area for several years. His last employment was with Evingham Auto Repair in Canisteo.
He had attended the former Woodhull School and attended Addison Central School. Marty was an avid stock car fan who enjoyed many races at Woodhull and other area race tracks.
In addition to his wife Renee of Adrian, he is survived by sons: Shawn Evingham of Canisteo, John (Natasha) Nolton of Scio, daughters: Julie Bruce of Penfield and Megan (Aaron) Smith of Canisteo. 7 grandchildren: Derick, Madison, Bryson, Tyler, Hailey, Hannah and Hayden, one great grandson: Zeke.
He is also survived by a sister, Mary Bruce of Hornell, his extended family Dottie and Oscar Aldridge of Jasper, Valerie Owens, Dawn Aldridge and Brian Aldridge, best friends Steve and Janene Reynolds of Arkansas, Jake and Greg Evingham.
He was predeceased by sisters Elaine and Frances Bruce, brothers Rodney Patterson and Oscar Aldridge.
Marty’s wishes that there be no calling hours or service and that burial would be at the convenience of the family.
