Kari Ann Koskie, 39, formerly of Hornell and Canisteo, passed away late Saturday evening (May 2, 2026) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Born in Hornell on Sept. 22, 1986 she was a daughter of William Koskie, who survives and Gloria (Sirianni) Koskie, who predeceased her. Besides her mother she was also predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Jack and Julia Koskie and maternal grandparents, Richard “Dick” and Thelma Sirianni.
A graduate of Hornell High School, class of 2005, Kari resided in Portland, Oregon with her husband, Derek for eight years before returning to the Hornell and Canisteo area about 12 years ago. She dearly loved children, and while residing in Portland, Kari was a devoted day care provider. Throughout the years Kari enjoyed listening to music, liked to attend concerts, play the saxophone, and loved cooking for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Derek Jersey and their daughter, Ophelia Jersey of Canisteo; her father, William Koskie of Hornell; one sister, Tara (Andrew) Phelps of Arkport, NY; three nieces, Gloriana, Gwyneth and Georgia Phelps; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A private service in memory of Kari will take place at the convenience of the family at the Bishop-Johnson & Desanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell, NY. She will be laid to rest with her mother, Gloria at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
