Slavin passed away April 3rd in Wellsville surrounded by family
The Emerald Hook & Ladder Co. is saddened to announce the passing of our Past Chief Tom Slavin.
Tom served the Emeralds and the Wellsville Fire Department in a host of leadership positions culminating with his ten years of service to the Allegany County Fire service as a Deputy Fire Coordinator (DC-3).
Thank you Tom for your dedication and service to your community.
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the winds be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Former Chief Kevin Fleischman mourned the loss on social media
The world has lost a wonderful man tonight! I know Marlyn met you at heavens gates! Thank you for being a great mentor, and grandfather to all of us younger firefighters. I’ll forever be grateful for you always tagging along to the county association meetings with me, and our breakfast adventures! Until we meet again!
