ARRESTED: Deshawn Miller of Hornell for Felony Aggravated Animal Cruelty
By Andrew Harris
On November 2 the Hornell Area Humane Society(HAHS,) was called to help with a terrible case animal abuse. An unknown abuser had placed a cat in some sort of bag and proceed to slam the bag to the ground in an effort to harm, or likely kill the cat.
The bag was found with a broken cat inside and rushed to veterinary care with the HAHS. The loving volunteers named him “Mister,” and sent him off to Cornell University for intense treatment.

A reward was offered to bring the criminal to justice, local restaurant Racalto’s offered to match the reward, and investigators combed through various security cameras footage to identify the monster responsible.
Later that week, news that Deshawn T. Miller, 28, of Hornell was been arrested by NYS Police for Class E Felony Aggravated Felony Cruelty to Animals arrived:
The HAHS was happy to hear the arrest was made but even moreso that Mister’s recovery has been going well and he is being cared for by a loving foster family:
“We are blown away by the community’s support for Mister. We cannot say thank you enough to everyone that has donated, shared, and kept Mister in their thoughts.
Also, a special thank you to Mister’s foster, who shared the picture below and is going above and beyond to provide love and support for him as he heals from the horrific event he went through.
We are pleased to share that an arrest has been made in this case…”
