The Arc Allegany-Steuben is proud to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York to support its Green Machine Athletics program.
The Green Machine Athletics program provides year-round sports training and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). By promoting active lifestyles and creating inclusive opportunities to participate in athletics, the program helps participants build confidence, develop skills, and experience the many benefits of sports and healthy living.
“This generous support from the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York ensures that people with I/DD have ongoing access to athletics, wellness, and community engagement,” said Carrie Redman, The Arc Allegany-Steuben’s Development Director. “Sports play a critical role in promoting health, inclusion, and empowerment, and we are grateful for this investment in our Green Machine athletes.”
The Health Foundation’s vision is a healthy central and western New York where racial and socioeconomic equity are prioritized so all people can reach their full potential and achieve equitable health outcomes.
“The Green Machine Athletics program gives participants the opportunity to have fun, improve their health, and connect with their community,” said Nora OBrien-Suric, PhD, President, Health Foundation for Western & Central New York. “We are thankful to The Arc Allegany-Steuben for leading this important work.”
