We are now two weeks into the fall Sports season and several local soccer teams are making a statement.
On the girls side, the defending Section V Champion Hornell Lady Red Raiders are letting Section V know that they want another shot at a state championship.
They’re off to a 5-0 start and have outscored their opponents 31-1. Parker Graham recently scored her 50th career goal and has 10 goals and 8 assists so far this season. 8th grader Bryanna Wilkinson has 10 goals and 4 assists. Junior Reagan Evingham has 4 goals and 4 assists.
The Keshequa Girls are also looking to defend their Section V championship and are off to a 4-0 start and have outscored their opponents 16-3.
The Fillmore girls are 5-1 with five shutouts, their only blemish came in a 7-4 tournament loss to the defending Class D State Champions from Northville in Section II. Kallie Pastrous has 8 goals and 8 Assists while Morghyn Ross has 8 goals and 4 assists. Fillmore has outscored their opponents 32-7.

There’s a “Youth Movement” in the Canisteo Valley. The Canisteo-Greenwood girls have 18 girls on their roster and 15 of them are underclassmen. The lady Chargers are off to a 4-1 start and have outscored their opponents 15-3. Keep an eye on 7th grader Adriana Beers who has 4 goals so far this season.
The Naples girls are 4-0 and have outscored their opponents 29-0.
The Wellsville girls are off to a 3-1 start.
LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS
Hornell has won back-to-back Championships and are off to a 5-0 start and have outscored their opponents 28-2. A big 1-0 victory over LCAA Arch Rival Livonia Thursday night was a Signature win. Senior Wyatt Evingham has 9 goals and 5 assists while Senior Marco Picco has 7 goals and 1 assist.

After a rare down season Matt Hill and the Bath-Haverling Rams are back. Off to a 4-0 start Bath has outscored their opponents 17-0. The annual I-86 Showdown with Hornell takes place on October 3rd.
The Fillmore Eagles are 5-0 and have only allowed one goal so far this season outscoring their opponents 22-1. Isaiah Sisson leads the team with 12 goals.
Canisteo-Greenwood isn’t well known for boys soccer but the Chargers are off to a solid 4-2 start with their blemishes coming in a 1-0 loss to Addison (4-1) and a 4-0 loss to Class B Powerhouse Hornell in the Maple City.
The Naples boys are 5-0 and have outscored their opponents 38-1.
After opening the season with a 3-3 tie versus Portville Genesee-Valley/Belfast has won five straight and are 5-0-1.
Arkport-Canaseraga is 6-1 with their only loss coming against Fillmore 4-1. They are the only team to score on the Eagles this season. Senior Aydan Button has 10 goals and 4 assists.
Andover-Whitesville is 4-1 with their only loss coming against league rival Fillmore 4-0. Brody Vance leads the team with 9 goals and 3 assists.
It appears that several local teams could be in contention for Championships come Sectional time. It will be fun to follow the next few weeks to see who rises to the top in hopes of hanging a sectional banner.
