Western New York Food 4 Paws and the Giant Food Mart of Wellsville joined forces to collect over 200 pounds of pet food this past month for families experiencing financial hardship.  This month’s collection was presented to the Alfred Area Food Pantry United Methodist Church, directed by John and Laurel Buckwalter, who gladly accepted the donation and will distribute the pet food to those in need in the Alfred area.

WNY Food 4 Paws is guided by the motto “Helping Families Stay Together, One Bowl at a Time” and works directly with manufacturers, pet supply stores, grocery stores and community partners to acquire pet food and other pet supplies. These pet necessities are redistributed to established food pantries and pet food pantries in the Western New York counties of Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua and Allegany, thanks to the Giant Food Marts in Cuba and Wellsville which have hosted donation barrels in their stores.

Jesse McKee, Store Manager at the Giant  Food Mart of Wellsville, is pleased to lead his store’s commitment to the collection. He stated, “We are pet lovers at this store. We welcome the opportunity to help members of our community provide for the pets they love.” All donations from these barrels will be given to local Allegany County food pantries including the most recent recipients – Genesee Food Pantry, the Rushford Food Pantry, the Council of Churches Food Pantry of Cuba and the Alfred Food Pantry United Methodist Church.
