Norene Ferris, former Bolivar-Richburg music director, has advised of the following activities celebrating Bolivar’s Bicentennial.
The Bolivar Pioneer Oil Days and Bicentennial celebration week, June 22-29, will offer many festivities for the public to enjoy. On Wednesday, June 25, a concert will be held in the Bolivar-Richburg high school auditorium entitled:
“Bicentennial Bash: A Concert Celebrating 200 Years”. The concert will begin at 7:00 P.M. and is free to the public.
The newly formed women’s chorus, MOSAIC, directed by Norene Ferris and accompanied by Heather Iantorno, will open the concert. Two special guest artists will join MOSAIC. Melissa Harvey, BRCS Class of 2005, will return to her Alma Mater to perform “Popular” with the ladies, and also “Over the Rainbow”. Melissa is a graduate of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and travels as a guest soprano soloist throughout the US. Also joining the women will be local trumpet virtuoso and retired Allegany-Limestone CS band director Bill Fancher on “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”.
The concert will feature BRCS elementary and high school singers and instrumentalists, directed by Chris Keir, Becky Freeman-Brauen and Jonathan Brennan. Another alumnus of the BRCS Class of 2018 and graduate of Lancaster Bible College, Reanna Dickerson Morrow, will perform, as well as community favorite Pastor Dave Herne, BCS Class of 1977.
A fashion show of styles from 1825-2025 will be embellished by vocalist Dan Brown, the “voice of Bona’s” basketball games, accompanied by Carole Aldrich.
Brought back by popular demand, “Sister Act” promises to delight the crowd.
A slide show with memories of Bolivar from the past 200 years will run during intermission.
The Genesee Valley Chorus, directed by BRCS alumnus Matthew Purks-Morris will join the celebration, and join MOSAIC and BRCS musicians for the Finale.
