Republican Colleagues, Lawler & Stefanik Ripped Away Health Care and Broke Their Promise To Their Constituents NEW YORK – Overnight, Mike Lawler, Elise Stefanik, and their fellow New York House Republicans abandoned their constituents and caved to Donald Trump’s demands by voting for a budget bill that guts Medicaid and fails to deliver a sufficient increase to the state and local tax deduction cap. Stefanik and Lawler put billionaires ahead of hardworking New Yorkers and ripped away health care to serve Trump and D.C. Republican leadership. In response, New York State Democratic Party Spokesperson Addison Dick released the following statement: “Mike Lawler, Elise Stefanik, and New York House Republicans gutted Medicaid for two million New Yorkers and sold out their own constituents to appease Donald Trump.
