A new study, and new leadership in Washington DC examines the research

Chronic disease involves long duration illness that is not immediately treatable but lingers and can be the result of myriad exposures or physical conditions. There is a newly released study: Safety of Wireless Technologies, the Scientific View released in February of 2025 by Richard Lear, a researcher from Brown University and Camilla Rees, Senior Policy Advisor for the DC based National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy. Lear has authored six papers on chronic disease and is the first to link a common biological profile of 7 biological factors to all 36 of the fastest growing chronic conditions in the U.S. Rees is a researcher of biological impacts of electromagnetic exposure and published scientist on the biological effects of radiofrequency radiation on the heart. Factual information, analysis and quotations in this article have been extracted from their 20 page report see:

Although causation of various types of chronic disease has been an ongoing topic of study for most of the 20th century, in 1971, the US Naval Research Institute focused in on one specific causality and found 132 biological effects and diseases in Navy personnel. These chronic conditions were the result of exposure to microwave radiation associated with wireless signals from communications systems and radar. “Beginning in the 1950’s, during the Korean War, there were consistent reports of health impacts from sailors, who worked closely with radar. A retrospective Veterans Association report published in 1976 confirmed substantial increases in health impacts for Navy personnel exposed to wireless signals.” There was an average 58% increase in 9 identified illnesses for those who were exposed, over those who were not. Review of available science and a global Meta science search identified 2,311 studies that link low-intensity microwave signals, and related sources of Electro Magnetic Radiation (EMR), with biological impacts. “The majority of the early studies examined microwave signals that were in the 1 to 4 gigahertz(GHz) range at low intensities. These types of wireless exposures are virtually identical with those from modern devices and wireless sources such as cell phones, WiFi, Bluetooth, smart meters, GPS, wearables, and wireless infrastructure.” More recent studies as compiled in the 1540 page Bioinitiative Report , 2014-2017, co- authored by 29 international scientists, link exposure to wireless technologies and other sources of EMR with dozens of chronic diseases including: neurological effects, brain cancer, fetal effects, blood brain barrier damage, immune effects, DNA damage, breast cancer, biochemical imbalances, childhood cancer, leukemia, decreased fertility and oxidative stress.

The United States Navy warning, back in 1971, about the potential dangers of microwave exposure, went unheeded. At that time the wireless exposure and public usage was at a minimum. It was in 1990 that the cell phone boom took off and so did the incidence of chronic disease. Statistics from The Center for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health and Pub Med reveal staggering increases in the 36 fastest growing chronic diseases and medical conditions. In 25 years 1990-2015 thirty six diseases and chronic conditions, all, more than doubled. Autism (+2094%) Sleep Apnea (+430%), Depression (+280%), Diabetes (+305%) Hypothyroidism (722%) The annual healthcare cost rose to an estimated 2.6 trillion dollars in 2015 and has kept rising in the decade since.
The correlation between the wireless revolution and rise in related chronic disease is irrefutable. Dr Henry Lai’s research summaries, in the Bioinitiative Report, https://bioinitiative.org/research-summaries/ links wireless signals to oxidative stress. “Most of us know this as free radical damage. This means chronic exposures from cell phones, WiFi and other wireless signals directly inflict changes in cells across our delicate biochemistry.” Industry, lawmakers, mainstream media and the public, however, hold fast to the perception that wireless technologies are safe. The FCC and FDA never actually established radiofrequency safety standards themselves. Instead they adopted guidelines based on standards of two Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), ANSI and IEEE, effectively outsourcing safety to technical organizations without biological experience. The FCC continues to ignore a Supreme Court ruling, requiring they reconsider public exposure guidelines in light of 11,000 pages of scientific proof, in evidence on the court record, indicating the need to do just that.
NOTE: A new leader, in Washington DC, HHS Secretary Robert Kennerdy Jr. is initiating an investigation into the causes and rising rates of chronic disease. One of the identified areas of investigation is the biological effects of exposure to EMR.
