Donald R. “Red” BURDICK, 88, of Bradenton, FL and Wellsville, NY, died Monday, April 5, 2021 in Blake Medical Center, Bradenton.
Born November 16, 1932, in Wellsville, he was the son of Donald E. and Doris Collins Burdick. On December 1, 1956, in Wellsville, he married the former Mary Lou Kruger, who predeceased him March 31, 2021. He served honorably with the U.S. Navy. A graduate of Wellsville High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University and a master’s degree from SUNY Cortland. Red was an elementary school principal in the Ithaca city school district.
Surviving are: two children, Lori Burdick of Sarasota, FL and Robert “Bob” Burdick of Bradenton, FL; a brother, Mason (Sally) Burdick of Greenwood; a sister, Mildred Margeson of Scio; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Maxon Burdick; and a sister, Eleanor “Bunny” Smith.
A private graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. The Rev. Dr. Eric D. Ash will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by members of Morrison B. Hayes American Legion Post #702.
