ALLEGANY – There’s still time to register for the 29th Annual Hospice Hope: Walk, Run, & Bike, presented by DataBranch and National Fuel, with media sponsors Bradford Publishing Co. and 7 Mountains Media! This community favorite is set for Wednesday, May 14, in Downtown Olean, with the event starting and finishing at Lincoln Park, right in the heart of the city.
Participants of all ages and skill levels can join the fun with their choice of a timed 5K run, a 1.4-mile memorial walk, or an 8.52-mile timed bike ride. Whether you’re racing toward a personal best or simply enjoying the fresh air with friends and family, the event offers something meaningful for everyone.
Official race timing will be provided by It’s Your Race, a professional timing service based in Buffalo, NY. Competitive participants will have the chance to earn special honors:
The top male and female finishers in both the run and bike races will receive a commemorative award.
The top three male and female finishers in each of the 8 age categories will be recognized with a custom event gaiter—a perfect accessory for future outdoor activities.
In addition, the top individual and top fundraising team will receive special commemorative prizes for their outstanding efforts to support hospice care.
The day will begin with an uplifting message from Pastor Dan Todd, spiritual care coordinator for HomeCare & Hospice. Pastor Dan will reflect on the purpose of the event and share moving thoughts about the patients and families served by hospice—a powerful reminder of why every registration, every step, and every dollar raised matters.
“When you walk, run, or bike with us, you’re doing more than joining a community event—you’re making sure our patients and their families experience peace, dignity, and meaningful moments during life’s final chapter,” said Melissa Sullivan, CEO of HomeCare & Hospice.
All registered participants and volunteers will be treated to a charcuterie-style snack cup, filled with fruit, cheeses, meats, and nuts—giving everyone a delicious, protein-packed refreshment after the event. Bottled water will also be available, generously donated by Seneca Gaming Corporation, to help everyone stay hydrated and energized.
Funds raised through registration fees and pledges directly support the HomeCare & Hospice Foundation, helping to provide not only essential medical care but also those “extras” that make a difference—like arranging a patient’s final trip to a favorite place, or providing support to families through life’s most tender moments.
Teams are encouraged to participate—whether you’re joining with co-workers, family members, or friends, creating a team is a fun way to get involved and share the experience. The online registration system makes it simple to sign up, create a team, and track fundraising progress.
