Belmont, NY – The Belmont Legion Post 808 is excited to announce an expanded celebration for Memorial Day Weekend, running from Friday, May 24, 2024, through Monday, May 27, 2024. This year’s festivities promise to be the best yet, with a variety of new events and activities designed to engage the community and honor our veterans. All area residents and visitors are welcome.

Highlighted New Events:

Join us on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for our first-ever market featuring local artisans and vendors. We are still accepting vendor applications for $20, and spots will be set up in the Legion parking lot. Convenient parking is available throughout the village and in surrounding county municipal lots. Food and libations will be available.
  2. Memorial Cornhole and Horseshoe Tournaments
Test your skills in our Memorial Cornhole Tournament on Saturday and the Horseshoe Tournament on Sunday, both starting at 11:00 AM. The entry fee is $10, with plaques awarded to the winners. Participants are welcome to bring their own boards. This year’s tournaments honor past Commander, James Bliven.
  3. Commemorative T-Shirts
Show your support by purchasing an adult commemorative T-shirt for $20. This year’s shirts honor US Army Vietnam Veteran and Legionnaire George Gareau and are sponsored by LC Whitford Co. Inc.

A spectacular fireworks display will light up the sky on Saturday at dusk. The best viewing spot is the Legion parking lot, though the show can be enjoyed from anywhere in the village.

The Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, followed by the ever-popular Sons of the American Legion Chicken Barbecue, (first-come, first-serve basis) for $12. A historical announcement will be made at the services in the park following the parade. The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade is Caroll Goodliff who served in the USMC 1952-1954.
