Independence Police Blotter

Wednesday November 23, 2022

Independence Police charged a female, age 31 of Wellsville, NY, with abandonment of animals. The charge stems from a complaint on State Route 248 in the Town of Independence. The will appear later in December in the Town of Independence Court.*

The Sun doesn’t publishe the names of those arrested unless the charges are of a felony nature, the charges are part of a larger “crime spree,” or the arrested is a public figure.

*Sadly, animal neglect and abandonment in New York State is still only a misdemeanor. The maximum sentence for just leaving animals to die is 1 year in prison and $1000 dollars.
