The most popular film of 2022 has been, without question, Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise, but also starring Lewis Pullman, son of Hornell’s Bill Pullman.
The film had a $170 million budget, and thanks to International sales, the movies has made over to $1 billion.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Lewis Pullman praised his dad for being his influence. He said not only does he “look up to and admire” his father, but said he would be his mentor “regardless of my relation.”
Bill Pullman famously played the president in Independence Day and flew as a pilot. Lewis Pullman did the same in the new Top Gun movie.
“I’m just lucky to be able to have him not only as an incredible dad, but as a great mentor,” Lewis told Us Weekly of his dad, 68, who recently finished up the critically acclaimed drama series, “The Sinner.”
A great question did come up: What about a father-son movie?
“I’m waiting for the moment where I feel like I’ve got my heels dug in and I’m confident I can keep up with him,” Lewis Pullman said. “As of right now. I’m … trying to catch up.
“With every project I go to (my feather). He and my mom (Tamara Hurwitz) … they have incredible insight. … They know the business so well,” Lewis Pullman said. “I get catered advice that’s personal to me — that’s pretty irreplaceable.”
Lewis Pullman, who played Lt. Robert ”Bob” Floyd, also enjoyed working with Tom Cruise and Miles Teller.
“Tom Cruise is the best leader a person could ever ask for,” Lewis Pullman, 29, said. “You could sit there and try and imagine what the best cinematic leader would look like, who would be best to be behind the wheel of a vessel like this, and you wouldn’t be able to really conjure up exactly what shoes he filled.”
He added Cruise was “one of a kind … I feel so wildly lucky to have gotten to not only work with him but watch him and learn from him.”
