“Twenty-two, Twelve” Poker Golf Tourney set for August 19 in Wellsville

The event will raise money for suicide prevention among US Veterans

Deadline for team sign up is August 12

Every day twenty two veterans of the US military commits suicide. Twelve veterans each day end their lives. Mike Green formed a group to address that sad fact, called “Twenty-Two, Twelve Foundation” and has organized a unique golf tournament at the Wellsville Country Club this month.

It is a “poker golf” style event works like this according to the event page:

“All teams will end up having at least 8 cards towards a poker hand no matter of score. Some teams may have more.

Format is 1 card for each par, 2 cards for each birdie. 3 card for each eagle. Best poker hand will win. Ties will be determined by toughest hole.”

Green explains that, “Funds will be use to help financially people in need of counseling and/or funeral expenses if needed. We are trying to bring awareness and break the stigma of mental health.:
